unifi has a new offering for their customers, and that’s the unifi Plus Box. Their first 4K Android-based box which has access to all of unifi’s digital entertainment services, which includes digital streaming channels, video-on-demand and interactive content. The main differentiator being on an Android-based system, you can also view over-the-top (OTT) content by downloading apps from the Google Play Store.
Acting Executive Vice President of unifi, Moharmustaqeem Mohammed explained, “The world of digital entertainment is getting increasingly fragmented with users having to choose between digital streaming and OTT content providers. Our goal with unifi Plus Box is to converge those entertainment options into a single, unified experience for the end-user in one TV box.”
The system is built on the latest Android TV Operating System (9.0 Pie), so user will have access to the full suite of apps on the Google Play Store. So that basically means you’re going to be able to use all sorts of apps on the Plus Box, and have access to more than 80 channels and digital streaming. Customers will also receive additional unifi playTV IDs to be able to stream content at home or anywhere with the unifi playTV app.
Moharmustaqeem added, “By offering our digital streaming services via the unifi playTV app, we give our customers the flexibility to access our content on any Android TV or smartphone without having to purchase a second unit of the unifi Plus Box. Our primary intention is to enable experiences and go beyond what is expected of a traditional Internet Service Provider (ISP).”
The unifi Plus Box will features a 4K UHD video resolution,Dolby Digital Plus audio decoder, and pre-installed popular video codecs. The Android Box has an AM Logic A53 Quad Core processor with 2GB DDR4 memory and an 8GB eMMC storage. They’ve also got a fancy new graphical user interface which integrates Google Assistant via a bluetooth, infrared or Wi-Fi remote for navigation.
The unifi Plus Box with Ultimate Pack will be available for unifi Home 30Mbps and 100Mbps, while new subscribers of unifi Home 300Mbps with Ultimate Pack will get access to five (5) unifi playTV accounts which is targeted at homes with multi-devices (smartphones, tablets and soon on Smart TVs and it comes with a six month free access to Viu.
The unifi Home 300Mbps with Ultimate Pack will still be priced at a promotional rate of RM199 per month with all the benefits included (Standard subscription fee at RM275 per month).
unifi Plus Box with Ultimate Pack for new subscribers of unifi Home 30Mbps and 100Mbps will be priced at RM149 and RM189 respectively with unifi playTV access for two devices.
