CyberPunk 2077 is probably the most anticipated game coming out this year. And unfortunately, CD Projekt Red have now announced that the game’s release will be delayed.
They announced the delay via Twitter with the image above, saying that:
“CyberPunk 2077 won’t make the April Release window and we’re moving the launch to September 17, 2020.
“We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done. Night City is massive – full of stories, content and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing.”
And that’s it. They’re taking the time to make sure the game is perfect, and I respect that. All too often publishers rush an incomplete game to release, and players always found issues and bugs in game because the game was rushed. At least this way they’re making sure they do it right.
They also mention that they want CyberPunk 2077 to be their “crowning achievement for this generation”, which confirms the game is still releasing to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
While it does break my heart because I’ve been following CyberPunk 2077 since its first trailer at E3 a few years ago. But I’m willing to wait for it to be perfected, because, in the words of Shigeru Miyamoto, legendary video game producer at Nintendo;
“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”
