
U Mobile will be leaving the crutches behind as the telco completes it massive network infrastructure upgrade, rising on par to global standards. This will enable to provide customers nationwide 4G LTE coverage with uninterrupted connectivity and faster speeds.
The exercise which took off late last year, was the company’s 18 month initiative costing over RM5 billion in modernising and building robust telecommunication network. Ensuring there is no interruption during the transition to its new network U Mobile has decided to extend its 3G RAN share agreement with Maxis in limited areas until end June 2019.
U Mobile the 5th player in the competitive telecommunication industry, is gaining tremendous traction among the younger population who prefer the value plans it offers. However due to limited coverage and depended on third party service provider, the telco was not able to serve the growing customers adequately. It was this reason, U Mobile decided to build its own modern 4G towers to cater for the expanding subscriber base.
