Mobile phone users can now rejoice with the latest announcement made by Dato Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Communications and Multimedia on the calling for telco’s to reduce the usage charges for prepaid users in reflection of the GST 6% levy imposed on them.

Seconding the motion and hoping operators act upon it immediately, the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission Chairman (MCMC), Dato Sri Dr Halim Shafie is pleased that operators have reacted positively on the ministry’s call to reduce rates and offer special packages to students and will keep a close tab on the offerings.

In view of this, U Mobile has expressed support for the call to review the mobile tariff by offering lower rates for prepaid services.
