Once again, like clockwork, two more apps have been found on the Google Play Store that have a risk of putting users phones at risk of being infected by adware. The two apps in question are “Sun Pro Beauty Camera” and “Funny Sweet Beauty Camera”, so if you’ve got these two apps installed (for whatever reason), delete them right now.
This comes from a new security report from Wandera, that said the adware from these apps could brick devices, drain your battery, or overriding and infecting phones till the point of needing replacing.
Both apps have reportedly been downloaded over 1.5 million times from the Play Store, and they were already riddled with negative reviews for intrusive advertising. And that’s not all folks, because it was also noted that the apps were capable of showing promotions on user’s devices , even if they hadn’t been opened. And that’s not cool guys. Not. Cool.
The security firm further explained:
“Testing on SunPro Beauty Camera showed that even if the app is never opened and even after restarting the device, full-screen ads start to pop up that are difficult to close.
“Funny Sweet Beauty Camera showed that the full-screen ads begin to appear outside of the app only when a filtered photo is downloaded via the app, locally on the device.”
So again guys, be careful of what apps you download on the Google Play Store. Some things are really not what they seem.
