Train to Busan was one of the most popular films back in 2016. Literally everybody was talking about how good it was, and how emotional the last scene was. Though that last scene was predictable, but hey, that’s just me. I’m not going to spoil it in case you haven’t seen it yet, but now may be a good time to check it out.
But now, they’ve released a trailer to the popular Korean zombie thriller, and it’s called Peninsula. Or Train to Busan 2: Peninsula or Peninsula presented by Train to Busan. I don’t really know, but it’s one of em’.
Based on the trailer, the story is set four years after the zombie apocalypse broke out, which set the whole scene for Train to Busan, where the outbreak documented the horrors of zombies chasing after you, on a high speed train. This new story also follows Jung-seok, a soldier who enters the infect zone as part of some operation.
But plot-twist, they end up finding a bunch of survivors who inevitably make their lives a living hell. There’s even some Fight Club-esque scene where these soldiers are forced into an arena, supposedly to battle zombies.

At some point, there’s a congealed zombie monster thing that chases after them in the arena, which is MENTAL. Like, how y’all even think of this shit?
It get’s ever more so complicated compared to the original Train to Busan, so I’m not sure what story they’re trying to tell just yet. It could come across as convoluted and be a zombie apocalypse movie with some semblance of the original Train to Busan universe. Hopefully though, they’ll be able to successfully implement all the aspects that made the original so well received.
Not gonna lie, the trailer so far is intense and looks to have he makings of a great zombie thriller, but I’m just worried they try to do too much, too fast, making it a unintelligible mess. But I am liking what I’m seeing so far.
No word on when Peninsula is set to release, so stay tuned for more updates on the movie!
