TNB Staring At Claims Being Filed Over Its Bill Shocks

For those who are staring at the 200% increase in electricity bill and no clue why its so high, you are now being advised to file a case at the Tribunal for Consumer Claims by the Deputy Ministry for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.

Datuk Rasol Wahid said this is an alternative from complaining to Tenaga Nasional or the Energy Commission which frankly has let to action by the national power company. “The issue with regards to high electricity bill is being closely monitored and we are aware the public has been not happy and have been expressing their dissatisfaction on social media”. He advised the people to pay the RM5 and open a file on the issue at the Tribunal for Consumer Claims (TTPM) under the Ministry’s ambit. According to him the tribunal has already received 2 claims relating to higher electricity bills as of now.

LiveatPC.com first ran the story when consumers showed their unhappiness on social media especially on the calculation method used by TNB. The methodology has yet to be clarified prompting the Energy Minister calling for more explanation needed on the matter. TNB has been placing newspaper advertisement on its installment plans but nothing on how it derived on the amount. Lately, UMNO and Cuepecs, were also reported to be requesting TNB to be more compassionate on the peoples burden and rework on its discounts, it claimed the discounts are insufficient.

Social media is abuzz with Malaysians asking TNB to reduce its billing price it charged during MCO, the grievances is gaining momentum for the Consumer Ministry to take notice. The advise for nowOnce filed, TTPM will have to take up the case and have TNB explain on the claims, the tribunal handles consumer complaints of up to RM50,000.
