OPPO has been on somewhat of a roll in 2019. The Chinese company has already release not one but two flagship smartphones in this calendar year, with the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom pushing the boundaries of camera photography and the OPPO Reno 2 continuing where it left off. You’d think that it would stop there but you’d be wrong.
OPPO teased the Reno 3 Pro 5G during it’s launch event for its ColorOS 7, the company’s latest Android skin that will be running on Android 10, along with a proposed release date of December, which would make it 3 flagship smartphones in one calendar year. Probably not the news that the people who bought the first two iterations of the phone will want to hear, but the Reno 3 that’s set to release is already starting to sound like a great looking phone.
For one, in the teaser image posted unto Twitter by Oppo VP Brian Shen, the phone looks extremely sleek.
One of the first things you’ll notice is that the phone looks really thin. That’s because it measures at a mere 7.7mm in thickness, which is pretty insane. That thinness also means that the Reno’s famous pop up shark fin camera won’t be making an appearance on the Reno 3 Pro 5G, which is honestly a big relief. Instead, the device will get a punch-hole camera on the top left of the screen. This 7.7mm thickness effectively makes the Reno 3 Pro 5G the thinnest 5G phone around (not that there’s even that many tbh).
As you can see, the phone really is a thing of beauty. There are virtually no bezels, and if reports are to be believed, it will come sporting a 6.5″ FHD+ AMOLED curved touchscreen that has a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will apparently come with the Snapdragon 735 chipset with an 8GB+256GB setup. The Reno 3 Pro 5G will actually be the company’s very first dual-mode 5G smartphone. This essentially means that it will work both standalone and non-standalone 5G networks.
No news yet on the actual release date for the phone, but odds are you won’t be seeing it in Malaysia this year. But then again, who knows, right? OPPO could surprise us all with an early Christmas present.
