The Latest Snap/Facebook Copycat is Skype

Skype did a revamp of their layout (that seems to be a theme across various apps at the moment) and came up with a few new features.

Or rather recycled a few features.

Skype is putting more focus on chatting, so users can make more personalised chats. There are options to customise Skype with colours, with added reactions to messages and video calls.

Skype Group Chat Skype Highlights

A *new* feature called Highlights will let users create highlight reel of your day with photos and videos. You access it by swiping to access the camera, which you can post or send to contacts or groups. Friends and family can react to it with emoticons or by jumping into a conversation.

There’s also a new “Find” panel that allows users to search for add ins and bots to perform actions – like getting ticket pricing, finding recipes, flight times, etc. This allows users to connect to businesses from the app itself.

The new layout and features will begin rolling out worldwide today, first to mobile and then to desktop. It will be available first on Android devices, releasing gradually over the coming weeks, followed by the new version for iPhone. Versions for Windows and Mac will be released over the next few months. Add ins and bots availability is also dependant on market.
