Anyone who’s been to university, or even school had to to take notes, or work together on a project before. Most times with friends, and sometimes with people you just met. But one thing I learnt when I was in uni was that Google Docs was where it’s at. Docs just made it easier to work. You didn’t have to save things, or pass something with a USB drive. Just get it up, work on it, and close it when you’re done. Everyone can add something in at the same time.
I mean sure. You could use a plethora of other apps and chat services like Facebook, WhatsApp web, or Telegram.
But if your lecturer or teacher were to look at your screen, you’d be busted. With Google Docs, it just looks like you’re taking notes. The teacher can’t be mad at you for that, now can they? Also some schools might ban certain social media sites, so kids have used Googles Docs to subvert that. Check out the picture below, where kids are using Docs because Google Hangouts was banned at the school.
Plus you actually do get work done while on Docs. You could create a document and have all the students in class work in it. All your notes from everyone in class, including that smart guy you don’t really know but say hi to everyone for once in a while. It makes things easier, and frankly notes from other people would help if you missed out on something. But some users have different ideas for the platform. Check out these tweets about how people use Docs to express themselves. Awww.
If you don’t flirt with your girl over the chat feature on Google Docs for her paper you’re editing together, somebody else will

This week, we created an emoji of what we predict we will look like in ten years and wrote letters to our future selves in Google Docs. We also created book talks through Canva.#LufkinLearns #costoncougars pic.twitter.com/znPUwA4qDn

I used to get on Google Docs while writing a collaborative paper. If someone was online at the same time as me, I’d just put a comment on the side. Write a joke, or start a conversation just to pass the time and make writing an essay somewhat more exciting. It just made things easier.
What do you guys think? Do you or did you guys use Google Docs for more than just writing essays? Let us know in the comments!
