You can play Minecraft basically anywhere these days; on your PC, on your phone and on your gaming consoles and the game has been doing pretty well over the years especially during the Covid-19 outbreak. I, myself am a fan of the game and play it during the my free time.
It was recently announced in a blog post by Mojang Studios, the developer of Minecraft, that the game is getting a free upgrade. The game will be made available in Playstation VR later this month
Fans have actually been asking for PS VR version of Minecraft for a while now. Me too. While the game is already available to play on various virtual reality platforms (for example, it was launched on the Oculus Rift back in 2016), Sony’s VR hardware has been overlooked until now. Mojang says the upgrade will come as a free download patch some time later this month for all players.
“Everyone who has Minecraft on PlayStation 4 will get that patch automatically. Download that patch and you’ll get access to the new Minecraft VR functionality. Of course, you’ll need a PS VR setup in order to use it,” says the studio.
Below are some screenshots by Mojang to show how the game will look in VR:
Not bad, not much different from the any other console.
The company says that the PS VR version of Minecraft will be 100% the same Minecraft game that you can play every day, every week, every month, every year on PlayStation 4. Nothing removed. 100% wholesome & pure full-fat Minecraft.
There are some small changes or tweaks but those are mainly for the game interface and set-up for VR. Players will be able to use the PS4 controller to move about and take action, while looking around them using the PS VR headset. Mojang says the game will have two separate modes, Immersive and Living Room, but didn’t go into detail about what these means.
Probably you’ll be able to walk outside and play the game? Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see.
