In three weeks, the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore, will become the Mecca of Japanese pop culture for the weekend. AFA2014 is returning on the 5 December to 7 December 2014 with the organisers bringing in enough star power to blind fans of anime songs (anisongs).

AFA 2014’s I Love Anisong Mega Anime Music Festival is set to become the biggest anisong performance ever held in the region, with names and groups such as May’n, yanaginagi, fripSide, Eri Kitamura, the Idolmasters, and so much more will rock the stage throughout all AFA2014 days. Alongside the concert, AFA2014 will also be conducting auditions for a new anisong-singer by holding the Anisong-singer World Audition. The winner of this audition will secure a performing contract with a Japanese record label as one of their anisong-singers, and will perform globally while primarily being based in Japan and Singapore.

Japanese video-streaming site Nicodouga will also be present at AFA 2014 as they will hold the niconico KUNIKAIGI during the event. This event, created with the concept of ‘recreating Niconico in real life’, allows attendees to participate in activities and online viewers worldwide can comment in real-time. Online niconico personalities will be present in person to meet and interact with the fans.

“We are seeing strong excitement and interest in the Japanese popular culture scene at a regional level, we believe the J-Wave is back, as elements of Anime and J-pop are increasingly making its way to our shores. AFA2014 will be our 11th festival since 2008, and we are proud to have led the way in promoting and bridging high quality original Japanese Popular Culture across South-east Asia. This mega edition of AFA Singapore will be our biggest, yet we are very excited at the tremendous amount of quality content we have in store for our customers this year,” says Shawn Chin, Executive Festival Director of Anime Festival Asia and Founder and Managing Director of Sozo.
