Sony Xperia XZ2 Pre-Orders Officially Open; Bundled with Goodies Worth RM1,088

After the leak, and tease plus global reveal before that, Sony Mobile Malaysia officially opens the Sony Xperia XZ2 pre-orders. Indeed, customers can place their orders for the new Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact from tomorrow onwards. While this is exciting news, the price reveals are the main focus for this curtain raiser event; the two new flagships have an asking price of RM3,299 and RM2,899 respectively.

Pre-orders open from tomorrow — 23 March 2018 and will end on 4 April 2018. All Sony outlets will be open for pre-orders and those who prefer online can head over to 11street.

Before going into the specifics of the pre-order, Sony Mobile Malaysia put together a quick introduction for these next-gen smartphones.

Let’s start with the Sony Xperia XZ2. This being a Sony device, it will definitely rock all the multimedia innovations that the Japanese electronics maker is famous for. Of course, for Sony Mobile’s new flagship, the 5.7-inch HDR Full HD+ 18:9 display comes with Sony BRAVIA TV-based tech. This includes the Sony TRILUMINOS Display for Mobile and X-Reality for Mobile features. Complementing the visual delivery is the Hi-Res Audio capabilities that the Sony Xperia XZ2 rocks. This audio setup pairs DSEE HX with Clear Audio+ and Qualcomm aptX HD Audio to produce crystal clear sound. The new flagship smartphone also rocks a stereo speaker system with Sony S-Force Front Surround to further amp up the audio delivery.

Sony Mobile, always keen on introducing new immersive experiences for its flagships, adds in a new haptic feedback. Using Sony’s Dynamic Vibration System, the feedback array will analyse audio data and translate it to reactive vibrations. This provides a new perceptual sense of touch; it’s somewhat akin to what the Sony PlayStation Dual Shock 4 controllers offer. This is how the Sony Xperia XZ2 is able to bring movies and games to life.

As for optics, the Sony Xperia XZ2 sports a 19-Megapixels rear-facing camera that uses a 1/2.3-inch Sony Exmor RS for Mobile and 25mm f/2.0 G Lens. Within is a memory-stacked sensor design and Sony BIONZ for Mobile image-processing engine. All these specs promise HDR photo-taking capabilities and 4K HDR video recording. It can also capture Super Slow Motion videos at 960fps in Full HD and HD formats. As for the front-facing shooter, it uses a 5-Megapixels shooter with a 1/5-inch Exmor R for Mobile system and 23mm Wide-Angle f/2.2 lens. Both come with Sony SteadyShot and a 5-Axis Stabilisation System with Intelligent Action Mode.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 packs all these innovations into a chassis that uses curved glass that mixes up with metal accents. Sony Mobile calls this design Fluid 3D Glass and, as always, protects it all with an IP 65/68 durability certification.

While both the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact sport the same specs, there are two key differences that set them apart. Where the main entry has a 5.7-inch screen, the smaller variant sports a 5-inch panel. Of course, the battery pack they use also have different Amperage – 3180mAh and 2870mAh, respectively.
