Sony is making the Cyber-shot range of cameras more versatile with its latest firmware update. The update is for the following models: DSC-RX100M3, DSC-RX100M4 and DSC-RX100M5. By updating the cameras with the new firmware, the cameras will now have better underwater shooting capability by improving operability with the MPK-URX100A Underwater Housing.

Previously, when using Sony underwater housing users had to manually adjust their white balance settings to suit their preferred underwater shooting conditions. The updated software now adds an “Underwater Auto” setting, enabling the camera to automatically detect the corresponding underwater White Balance setting This aims to help photographers to get the most out of their underwater experience.

In addition, flash operation has been improved when using the camera with the underwater unit with the introduction of a “Flash-off” option. This reduces the chances of the flash unit unintentionally popping up inside the underwater housing when the flash setting is on.
