Sony has announced a free infrared (IR) cut filter replacement programme for its BURANO digital cinema camera to improve colour reproduction under strong lighting conditions, such as sunlight.

The service, covering both parts and labour, is available to BURANO owners through June 30, 2026 and will be carried out on a first-come, first-served basis via regional Sony service centres.

BURANO units already fitted with a protrusion on the upper part of the front optical filter component come with the updated filter and do not require replacement.

Sony stated that the move is part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing the shooting experience for Cinema Line users in professional video production environments.
