As the COVID-19 outbreak is still quite prevalent in Malaysia, us Malaysians are taking the steps we need to, to protect ourselves against the virus. This essentially means stocking up on face masks, hand sanitisers, disinfectants, and other supplies that are facing shortages in the country. With that, even the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs have engaged local face mask manufacturers to ramp up production as demand has grown three times in comparison to usual periods.

Now Shopee is working closely with authorities, manufacturers and distributors to help manage the supply chain, and ensure these essentials are available to Malaysians nationwide. Now, Shopee has made available new KF94 masks on S-Mart, starting from today. Shopee are also working on securing additional stock of 3-play face masks, and travel size sanitisers (50ml), which will be coming to S-Mart next week.

Another precaution Shopee is taking, is ensuring that these products are reasonably priced and not subject to price gouging. The KF94 mask is available for RM5.90 each, and a bundle of five 3-play masks will be available for RM3.90. Each Shopee user however, is limited to a maximum of one KF94 mask and 3-ply mask bundle each.

Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director of Shopee said that Shopee’s commitment and concern is the well-being of its consumers during this outbreak.

“We are engaging very closely with our partners, manufacturers and distributors to boost supply of hygiene products for consumers. We understand that Malaysians are concerned about supply and we want to be able to help alleviate their worries and provide them with greater peace of mind.”
