The trend is emerging with more petrol stations are giving reward points or cashback as technology paves the way for mobile use at these counters. Petron together with online reward program specialist Shopback, is bringing more exciting redemption opportunity to customers with the introduction of the first online-to-offline redemption offered by Shopback. Previously, the cashback was in the form of cash credited to users’ account.

Following the collaboration, PMiles Points redemption is now available on ShopBack’s web, mobile web and app platforms. For every RM10 cashback, users can convert it to 600 PMiles points while every 1,000 PMiles points can be converted into RM10 cashback to be credited into their ShopBack’s account.

Making this announcement, Malaysia Country General Manager Alvin Gill,  said with about 23.9 per cent of Malaysians’ disposable income spent on petrol, housing and utilities in 2016, ShopBack was excited to launch the collaboration with Petron and was looking forward to other similar collaborations in the future.

Meanwhile, Petron Malaysia Head of Retail Business Choong Kum Choy said the collaboration offered PMiles cardholders more value for the cashback option.

He said PMiles members can also convert their points at 620 Petron service stations, nationwide, or through PMiles website.

There are more than one million Malaysians using ShopBack with the amount of cashback rewarded exceeding RM25 million.
