Fresh off launching the new flagship Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Pavilion, Samsung Electronics is releasing new AR emoji characters into its devices starting with Mickey and Minnie Mouse from Disney.
For those who have gotten their units already, they can now access the classic Disney characters – directly from their phone to create personalised messages on the new feature. The collaboration will also introduce more characters from films including The Incredibles, Zootopia, and Frozen which will be rolled out throughout the year.
“With more than 6 billion emojis sent daily, our goal with developing AR Emoji was to provide a fun, exciting way to communicate and a new way to bring animated images to life,” said Younghee Lee, CMO and Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics.
Slightly advanced version from Apple’s Animoji, the AR emojis on the Galaxy S9 series uses deep learning and facial recognition technology to map more than 100 facial features to produce a 3D replica. Samsung offers eighteen pre-set stickers using standard AGIF file format, for easy sharing to whatever type of smartphone.
