Who’s excited for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia? Well, Vivo is and with good reason! The Chinese tech giant will be rewarding one lucky user a once-in-a-lifetime, all expense paid trip to catch a World Cup game. Together with Vivo’s brand ambassador Janna Nick, the winner will also get to visit Moscow. All they need to do to is to take a selfie and enter the #FIFANtastic contest.

Users can post a selfie that feature both FIFA and Vivo V9 on either Facebook or Instagram with a set of designated hashtags. This contest runs from 7 April to 6 May 2018. Participants will also need to like and share Vivo’s FIFA-related social media posts to qualify. The most creative selfie will win the chance to watch a football match with Janna Nick.
This contest is part of Vivo’s initiative to reach out to local football fans. Mike Xu, CEO of Vivo Malaysia, says, “Football is a sport full of passion and excitement, and is one of the few things that bring Malaysians together through the love for football.” He adds that Vivo hope to amp up excitement for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and bring football fans together to celebrate it. Vivo’s presence at the World Cup is a chance to engage with both local and international youth, and Xu intends to bring their energetic and youthful spirit into football.
On top of the #FIFANtastic selfie contest, Vivo is also having an esports competition. They will be running a FIFA 18 tournament with Astro, through the eGG Network. The winner of the FIFA 18 tournament will get two tickets to a semifinals match in Russia. There are also other prizes and official World Cup merchandise up for grabs. Happening all over the country, the dates and venue for the tournament are:
- PENANG: 13 –15 April 2018, Sunway Carnival Mall
- MELAKA: 27 –29 April 2018, Dataran Pahlawan, Melaka Megamall
- PAHANG: 4 –6 May 2018, Kuantan City Mall
- KLANG VALLEY: 11 –13 May 2018, Sunway Pyramid
Even if you don’t play FIFA 18 (or you’re terrible at it like me), you can still come over for the event! There will be other exciting on-ground activities that’ll entertain both football fans and everyday users.
Continuing its long list of football-related activities, Vivo has also signed up Raf Yaakob as their new Vivo Football Icon. The Manchester United Malaysian Fan Club President is a regular in the local football scene. Raf is set to help with Vivo’s FIFA World Cup-related marketing and promotional programs.
Vivo had reached an agreement with FIFA to sponsor the FIFA World Cup for six years back in May 2017. This means Vivo will be the official sponsor for both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup. Vivo will also be among the sponsors of the 2021 FIFA Confederations Cup.
