MapleStory Blitz Gets New Game Mode and Event

MapleStory Blitz, released for mobile back in February from NEXON Korea, has gotten itself a major update and an in-game event. Called the Grand Battle update, it adds an all-new player vs. player (PvP) game mode, Grand Battle celebration event, and more.

In case you’re not familiar with MapleStory Blitz, it’s a collectible card game spinoff of the role-playing game MapleStory. MapleStory Blitz has players battle in real-time across three lanes using Maple World monsters and skills adopted into cards.

The Grand Battle update improves upon the PvP combat with a new set of rules. The new patch includes the ‘Spear Meets Shield’ mode where players get a special Grand Battle deck to fight powerful opponents. Balance updates include Ephenia now damaging opposing Towers when summons; ‘Water Shield can prevent damage’. Learning both improves your chances at winning matches. There are also plans for more Grand Battle modes in the near future.

There’s also a special event: the MapleStory Blitz Grand Battle Celebration Event. This event will be available until April 25. Players who win the Grand Battle five times get a Grand Battle Box; winning it 20 times gets you the Grand Battle Portrait.

MapleStory Blitz is free-to-play and rated E for Everyone (ESRB). You can download them here for Android and here for the iPhone.
