Initiative towards IOT and connected infrastructure is part of Selangor states Smart Selangor program, which is tasked directly by Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated to enrich the lives of the people residing in the state. Looking into turning the state into the nations smart city, Smart Selangor Delivery Unit is working with various parties for inputs and suggestions, for a start the agency together with SITEC  Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council is organising a very first international conference on Smart Cities this December 6th and 7th.

The Selangor Smart City International Conference 2016 will showcase solutions and technologies by Smart Cities, Smart Tech, IoT, and Big Data players from the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Asia, together with an exhibition and a business matching session on Day 2. The event promises to be one of the biggest international Smart City events in the region gathering various global representatives including featuring speakers responsible for the development of cities such as Barcelona, Taipei, Bandung and Cyberjaya into leading, globally-recognised Smart Cities.

Speakers include Elia Hernando, an architect from the team that turned Barcelona into the world’s first Smart City; Deputy Mayor with Taipei City Government, Lin Chin-Rong; Ridwan Kamil, Mayor of the city of Bandung, Indonesia; as well as Dato’ Faris Yahaya, Managing Director of Cyberview, a leading Smart City developer in Malaysia.

Participants will also have the opportunity to gain exposure of the latest Smart City trends through sessions by tech giants such as IBM, Microsoft and Huawei. Additionally, local players such as Eclimo, Key Asic, Cytron Technologies, and UK-based urbanminded, with their smart bike security system, BikeVault, will also be on hand for engagement.

The event will be officiated by Selangor Chief Minister, Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin bin Ali and launch the ‘Smart Selangor Blueprint’, as part of the State Government’s move towards the realisation of a Smarter Selangor, through the gathering of the best minds from around the world to formulate a brain trust catalysing its development.

The conference held in Saujana Hotel, is open to anyone interested in Smart City solutions, technologies, and innovations. Ticket prices start from RM60 or USD$15
