Before it was the easing for dine-in under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), now with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which gives allowance for hair salons and night bazaars to resume operation, Selangor is having second thoughts.

Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Amirrudin Shari will be having a formal meeting with all local authorities in Selangor on ways to implement the guidelines that will give these business allowance to reopen. In his address, the Minister told reporters that processes need to be studied and detailed instruction be given to all business before they can open.

Selangor has been a rebel when it comes to Federal directives, as an Opposition state it defied orders when Ramadan bazaar were not permitted, it went ahead having them in large go-downs and warehouses. Innovate but effectiveness is questionable. Then when MCO was eased with the introduction of CMCO, where restaurants were allowed to open together malls, Selangor and other non-aligned states refused the Governments directive, instead choosing to wait and see. This lead to Trade Minister Datuk Azmin Ali warning  state heads that they could face lawsuits from businesses as the order is against the Federal Act.

By law, the states do have their own mandate when it comes to matters relating health and safety of its people, but with the administration machinery behind the Federal Government, states should know that the easing is given after macro viewpoint of Covid-19 status in the country and all states need to move in tandem in order for the economy to chug.

A more precise guideline will be drafted by Selangor for the night markets as it involves large gathering of people, the CM will be talking to his officers on Tuesday on Wednesday on this matter. In the meantime Selangorians will just have to wait a bit more longer for their haircut.
