Sega Fes 2018: Sega Ages Confirms for Nintendo Switch

It’s very easy now to imagine how long-time rivals can become partners; more so for Sega as it introduces Sega Ages to the Nintendo Switch. Both are infamous for getting at each other’s necks 20 years ago. Fast forward to  2018 and all the feuding pair are now figuring out how to leverage their long-running intellectual properties. If anything, this collection update is the latest in their efforts to expand their relationship.

Simply put, this is a console remake of a proper classic collection; one that somewhat reflects Sega’s similar efforts that are now running on Google Android and Apple iOS.

Sega Ages is one of the first things to hit the stage at Sega Fes 2018. As per the original, it will feature 15 classic Sega titles. They will all receive full optimisation via the efforts of M2, a production partner. Since this is a classic collection, there will be fan favourites. Many will be happy to know that Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Force IV, and Phantasy Star, among others, are available on the list. Of course, all of them will receive a couple of add-on improvements as well. Chief among the updates, obviously, are the instant save state function and HD upscaling option for the games.

Unlike the original Sega Ages, there is the possibility that more games will join the current line-up as future updates. Now imagine this, games like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ala Sonic Generations can show up on the Nintendo Switch. It is possible. So far, Sega hasn’t reach the point to make such considerations yet.
