In spite of all the hoo-ha about Samsung’s folding glass screen, the Z Flip seems to be selling extremely well. The phone sold out quickly online and in most retail stores within just a day of its launch last week, and normally that would mean you’d have to wait months for a restock. Not this time though.

Samsung has confirmed today that it will restock the Galaxy Z flip on the 21st of February, which is just a week after it launched.

Consumer response to the Galaxy Z Flip has been nothing short of amazing and has exceeded our expectations. The Galaxy Z Flip is currently sold out online and a limited number of devices remain in stores across the country, with many out of stock. Additionally, the Thom Browne special edition sold out on Samsung.com over the weekend.

While the company’s second foldable smartphone is a lot better than it’s first, the phone is not without its issues. A recent teardown of the device shows that in spite of the fact that it is impressive how Samsung was able to fit so many components into a foldable design, the phone will not be cheap to repair should anything go wrong with it.

With it’s screen not being the most durable out there, Samsung has offered users who purchase the phone this year a one-time screen replacement for just $119 USD. Should you purchase the phone next year onwards however, it’s going to set you back a whopping $499 USD. With the foldable form factor still in its infancy however, the high price of repairs is to be expected.

We’d advise you to steer clear of foldables for now, at least until companies manage to drive the cost of owning one down.
