2016 is the year Samsung would want to erase from its memory, after a spate of hullabaloos of  legal tangling with Apple, employee misconduct, phones catching fire, recalls and board room shuffles, the biggest smartphone maker must be relieved the year is over and seeks to kick start 2017 on a right footing.

Being forthcoming is always a good thing, with the case of heir-apparent involved in the shady dealing with soon to be impeached President put to rest, Samsung has also announced full disclosure on the investigation on the cause of the Galaxy Note7 faulty battery incidents in 2 days time. (23rd January)

The press conference is also slated to share deep discovery on the problems and potential quality enhancement plan the company plans to take to ensure such incidents do not occur on future models. Samsung Electronics, as well as independent expert organizations conducted their own investigations into various aspects of the incidents. The fiasco which reported to cause billions $ in recall, legal and compensation, opened safety questions on mobile devices and lithium ion batteries when exposed to certain conditions.

Some to the preventive measures posted by tech sites included a built in fire extinguisher in the smartphone, like an airbag that is deployed milliseconds after impact, a pouch containing flame retardant fluid leaks when a fire breaks and douses the phone immediately.  This idea was developed by academics at Stanford University, which we think is quite cool!
