Part smartphone, part tablet, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold offers users an entirely new kind of mobile experience, featuring a different way to multitask, watch videos, play games, and more. The Samsung Fold comes in at a 4.6″ HD+ Super AMOLED Cover Display, and a 7.3” QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED Display.

Samsung made sure the phone is able to withstand countless number of opening and closing of the fold. Extensive tests in art reliability labs make sure the Galaxy Fold is ready to come to market.

As the phone comes in a foldable form factor, a ‘Folding Test’ was an important part of the testing. This test, examines whether the Galaxy Fold can outlast 200,000 folds and unfolds. This would equal to 5 years of use, if opened and closed 100 times a day. The test takes a full week to complete. And boy, does that video look funny. Samsung basically programmed a machine, to open and close the phone for a whole week. Good thing robots haven’t come to be sentient yet, because I’d understand if they went all Skynet on us like in the Terminator movies.

While the extent of the test may seem like overkill to some, Samsung viewed it as vital to ensuring the durability of device’s hinged design and Infinity Flex Display.
