Malaysia played host to the annual event organised by Samsung Electronics for Southeast Asia, showcasing mostly what was seen in Vegas during CES in February, the Samsung Southeast Asia 2016 Forum is a platform for trade delegates, retailers and media from the region to get up close and experience some of the innovative products introduced during the show. This is the first time the two day event was being held in Kuala Lumpur at the KLCC Convention Centre.
Continuing on the internet of things theme, the company unveiled its focus on smarter living campaign with a line-up of new products including the new curved SUHD TV with Quantum Dot display, AddWash washing machine that allows users to top up clothes in the middle of a spin, and fan favourite Family Hub refrigerator, a fridge that shows whats inside and when the food will expire!

Quantum Dot TV
Featuring some amazing picture quality, the world number one TV manufacturer has pushed the envelope even further by introducing the worlds first bezel-less curved TV design with Quantum Dot display. The 10-bit Cadmium free SUHD TV feature true-to-life like picture quality, and the bezel-less display appears to make a 78″ to be much more larger, minimalist is the message here. Key aspect of the new technology is how visible the picture quality even in brightly lit area.

Fridge Not Just For The Cook
With a 21.5 inch full HD touch screen located on the upper right exterior door, the Family Hub refrigerator is a sophisticated multi tasking unit that connects all devices in your home and allows you to monitor them from your fridge. You can post, share, update calendars, pin photos, leave notes via your smartphone. There are three high quality cameras installed inside the fridge to capture image every time the door closes. Now what is it for? Glad you asked, once the camera snaps the images, it will then can be used to track the amount of stocks you have left inside when you are at the supermarket or you can also know when the milk is expiring.
Both the fridge and the smart TV can take up the role as the homes family hub, works with devices on any OS. However the hub(main) device has to be a 2016 model.
Surface Stunt Double The Galaxy TabPro S
Windows 10 universe just expanded with Samsung entering the foray with their Galaxy tablets, Microsoft wont mind if manufacturers come out with devices that imitate their own Surface as long as they are on the Windows ecosystem.
A testament to that flattery is the Galaxy TabPro S, it may seem like the Surface on the pardon the pun the ‘surface’, but take a closer look and you will see that the tablet is much slimmer at a mere 6.3mm and weighs in at only 693grams and also Samsung has pumped up the 12 inch display using their preferred choice of Super Amoled and a myriad of other features.
Platinum and Rose Gold Health Gears
The 2 new Gear S2 Classic models first shown in CES was also on display, one encased in 18K Rose Gold and another in Platinum, new watch straps and face options were also introduced. Designers were approached to design new accessories, the famous Peanut character Snoopy and other artwork face by Keith Haring, straps by Colombo on premium watch and even includes works by Jean-Michael Basquiat, Jeremyville and Burton Morris.

Host of product that were also on show were this year released 360 degree audio speakers, vacuum bots, curved gaming monitors, narrow bezel video walls, OLED signage with a mirror effect, an Ultra HD blu-ray player and payment services like Samsung Pay which will be available in Singapore and Australia before the rest of Asia.

The overall show was a glimpse of what 2016 has installed for consumers from Samsung, despite it being a quite Monday (FT Day), the sales team at the Korean giant Malaysian chapter are going to be very busy for the coming months with all these innovative products.
