IFA has taken second stage for Samsung nowadays, nevertheless the largest technology fair in Europe did see new innovation from the company which reserves consumer electronic and wearables for the show.
Leading the way, three new devices were introduced in the wearable portfolio during this years IFA: Gear Sport, a water resistant fitness-focused smartwatch; Gear Fit2 Pro, an upgraded GPS sports band; and Gear IconX, a second generation of cord-free earbuds.
“Our wearables are designed to help consumers of varying fitness levels meet their goals and aspirations. We want to help remove the stigma that fit can only mean one thing and that fitness trackers are complex and for only the most intense of workouts,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
Gear Sport: This underwater capable wearable withstands up to 5ATM which are useful for taking laps in swimming pool, it also works seamlessly with the Speedo training app. It comes with a super amoled 1.2 inch bezel and with changeable strap, users can keep track of key swim metrics like lap count, lap time and stroke type. You can also tap and pay for your pool charges using NFC.
Gear Fit2 Pro; Built in with GPS tracking, this device is an advanced rendition of the current model with 1.5 inch display its now has a much improved accuracy in heart rate monitoring. Activities can be supplemented with Under Armour and spotify apps, both devices functions with the apps. Auto active detection built into the device can detect the activity you are doing and bases the reading accordingly for instance running, walking, cycling et cetera.
Gear IconX: after the earlier model was released Samsung has now taken a level higher with the IconX, the cordless earbuds connects to your phones personal assistant Bixby by tapping and and holding the earbud you can use your voice to control your music or your phone
The Gear Fit2 Pro will be available in Malaysia end of September onwards, while both the Gear Sport and Gear IconX will reach local shores in November.
