Samsung and its telecommunications retailers have halted the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 after cases of exploding batteries being reported while charging the phone or while the phone is turned on. Right after receiving these complaints, Samsung initiated a global recall of the handset. Also, right after receiving this news, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and many airlines started to ban the use and charging of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on their flights.
Airlines that have banned the use and charging of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are Qantas, Jet Star, Virgin Australia, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Fly Dubai and Cebu Pacific.
The replacement initiatives for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in Malaysia will take place from 29th September 2016 onwards. Further details are as follows: –
- Replacement date: From 29th September 2016 onwards
- Replacement Location: Customers may return their existing Galaxy Note7 and collect their new Galaxy Note7 at the place of purchase (original place of collection)
- Replacement Time: 10.00am till 10.00pm
- Replacement Conditions: Customers are required to bring the full box set including a charger and cable; headset and USB Connector
