Samsung is swallowing its pride and agrees to pay Apple S548 million in compensation after losing the battle on copyright infringement set upon by the Cupertino tech giant. The amount is part of the $1 billion payment ordered by the courts after a five year battle Apple reigned on the Korean smartphone accusing it of stealing its patents. There were various claims by Apple on the infringement including the pinch and zoom feature on Apple phones which accuses Samsung copying in 2013, however the US Patent office has declared it non patentable, there was also the edge to edge screen which Apple tried patenting and again rejected by the patent office that we tied to the list presented to the courts.
Samsung has included clause in its payment on the condition it reserves all right to reclaim or obtain reimbursement in the event the judgement is reserved, modified or vacated or set aside. Apple vehemently disagrees on the reimbusrsement .
No doubt both parties do not care much for the money involved, but by the looks of it ego play is riding high in this charade.
