The iPhone SE was introduced more than three years ago as a more affordable and compact option than the Apple flagship models. Last year, Apple discontinued the iPhone SE. This leaves a gap for the mid-range Apple smartphone market. Although there is the iPhone XR and XS models, they are not only costlier but larger in size. Last year there were some rumours about a newer version of iPhone SE which might take on the same features of the iPhone 8. However, the rumours stopped and there are no news on whether there will be a successor to the iPhone SE since then.

PC Tablet reported that Apple is working on a next-gen iPhone SE, dubbed the iPhone XE. It also states that the phone will have a 4.8-inch OLED display and it might have Apple’s A12 Bionic chip. The release date is set to be September. We’re not sure if this phone will see the light of day but we are hoping Apple gives option to those who prefer a cheaper and smaller alternative.
