Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has announced the departure of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob as Chairman of TM Board with effect on 30 November 2018. With that, Rosli Man will be appointed as the new Chairman effective today.

On the new Chairman’s appointment, the Board said,

“We are happy to welcome Rosli Man as the new Chairman of TM Board. With his experience and knowledge, we look forward to his guidance and leadership as the Company, under the helm of Imri Mokhtar, the recently appointed Acting Group Chief Executive Officer and the team continues on executing its Performance Improvement Programme (PIP) 2018 and beyond. This is in keeping to our institution being the nation’s key enabler for the digital economy, by delivering on our strategies to Accelerate Convergence and Empower Digital.”

“We would like to wish Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman all the best in his future undertakings.

Rosli Man brings with him more than three decades of experience in the telecommunications industry right before he resigned as an Independent Non-Executive Director of TM in 2008. He will be returning to TM today.

RECAP: Another shake-up on the cards?

Late last month, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd Group CEO Datuk Rohana Rozhan is believed to be one of the top candidates for the CEO post at TM, according to sources familiar with the matter. If this works out, Rohana could be the first female to take this post at TM.

According to the source, Rohana is one of the five potential candidates considered for the post since the resignation of Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly in June. Imri Mokhtar was recently appointed as Acting Group CEO.

Rohana will resign as Astro Group CEO with effect from 31 January 2019, but she will remain as Astro’s Non-Executive Director.
