May 4 marks a new day for many Malaysians who will chose to head back to work and we will also see a majority of businesses reopen. After enduring 7 weeks of the Movement Control Order, the nation enters a new phase of a much looser restriction under the Conditional Movement Control Order.

During the MCO, major arteries in Petaling Jaya, like the LDP, Federal Highway and NPE were all under tough control with police road blocks, often bringing traffic to a snarl. However effective the start of CMCO, traffic under the jurisdiction of Petaling Jaya Police Department will be realigning some of the road blocks in anticipation of increased commuters on the roads. Chief of Police Petaling Jaya, ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the removal of the road blocks is to ease traffic and to deploy police personal to other strategic areas like supermarkets and eateries.

Roads that will be reopen are, Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) the exit to Mutiara Damansara and the traffic light PJU 8/1 Damansara, this was a major blockade to control movement within this high density zone. Its was also the highway heading to Bandar Sri Damansara, Kepong and Selayang wet market area.

The ones that will continue to be closed- the Toll booth area along NPE PJS 2, Subang Toll, Sungai Buloh toll, Persiaran Suria and kilometre 34.1 Federal Highway. The police will also add another blockade to the list which is along 8 1/2 Mile Old Klang Road.

With CMCO firmly in place, PDRM will be deploying its officers to business areas where shops are resuming and malls opening. Expect to see more police patrolling, crime prevention units on the beat and street cops along walkways assures Nik Ezanee.
