As Stock as You Can Get

As the Xiaomi Mi A1 is in the Android One programme, the OS on-board is stock Android. What this mean is that the phone comes with the stock launcher, apps and no bloatware. This translates to smooth, fast experience and performance while using the phone in your daily lives. What makes the experience even better is with the 5.5-inch Full HD display. Sure, it isn’t an OLED display, but it still manages to output good colours for your enjoyment.

What better way to enjoy stock android than on a Full HD screen.

Good Enough Performance

Thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, it performs relatively well for typical app use. The chip is also very power efficient, as it only sips the 3,080mAh battery, not gulps it. Hence, you can comfortably unplug the phone from the charger in the morning around 7am, and will still have enough juice to last you through dinner. When it is time to charge it, the Mi A1 is futureproof with the help of the USB Type-C connector.

Also packed within the Mi A1 is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Now you won’t have to worry about running out of space as it can be upgraded via microSD cards. To be more precise, the microSD card can be up to 128GB.

Xiaomi also packs a 3.5mm headphone jack into its Mi A1, unlike many other flagship smartphones who have omitted it entirely. There is also a dedicated sound amplifier with advanced Dirac HD for good audio quality. Not only does it direct to the headphone jack, it also directs to the single speaker on the smartphone.

Zoom with Dual Cameras

Imaging with the Xiaomi is good, as the dual-camera uses two focal lengths to give users a 2x optical zoom performance. The large f/2.2 lens on the main is enough for good low-light shots. The dual 12-megapixel camera has a 28mm equivalent main camera, while the secondary camera is the same as a 50mm lens.

Verdict:

This is a great phone for anyone looking for a stock experience, outside a Nexus or Pixel device.
