Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Reveals Van der Linde Gang Story

The next entry in Rockstar Games’ series of gunslinging outlaws is coming this year. As fans await, Rockstar releases a new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer to shed more light on its story.

Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer reveals Van der Linde gang story

Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in the open-world of the wild west. Players control Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and a member of Dutch Van der Linde’s gang. The gang represents a significant historical backbone to the first Red Dead Redemption. Hence, the game occurs in 1899 as a prequel to Red Dead Redemption’s 1911. In the first game, players would play as John Marston as he hunts down the members of this gang. Indeed, John Marston himself appears in this trailer with his iconic scarred face.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer talks about a time when cowboys were close to vanishing. It then proceeds with a montage of the characters’ struggles and exploits. To further explain this, Rockstar includes a description of the story:

America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 26th October.
