Ramadan Twitter Emojis Add Colour to the Holy Month

The long month of Ramadan begins today. As such, Twitter brings back its Ramadan Twitter emojis to help enhance its platform for Muslims worldwide. For Malaysia in particular, Twitter shows that 67% of surveyed users in the country will tweet during the holy month. Hence, Twitter hopes this feature will help add colour to their #Ramadan experience.

These three custom emojis run from 16th May to 14th June. The first is a newly-designed crescent-moon emoji:

The second emoji is a picture of a date with a glass of yogurt, a common dish to break fast:

Lastly, the third emoji is that of a #Ramadan-themed lantern:

To enjoy these custom emojis, all you have to do is write a tweet using any of these hashtags.

Another fun fact about Malaysians on Ramadan is shopping. According to Twitter, Malaysians enjoy sharing about their desires to purchase clothes, jewellery, and furniture during the month. While religion takes the top spot, the country also seems to enjoy humour during the holy month. The top five content are:

  1. Religious
  2. Food/ cooking
  3. Travel destinations
  4. Health/ wellness
  5. Comedy
