Federal Territory Minister has indicated that the upcoming Ramadan Bazaar a staple for the preparation of the fasting month could take place albeit with some modification and alteration to the concept.

Expecting the Movement Control Order to cease on April 14, the various ministries will continue to work with the health officials ensuring social distancing and other controls put in place is still adhered to after the MCO. Hundreds of traders who were unclear about the bazaar can now see a ray of hope if what the FT Minister announced is to take place. Main zones identified every year for the bazaar has been TTDI, Pantai, Bangsar, Kampung Pandan, Kampung Bharu among the listed, however this year there will be locations that might not be opened if they fall under the Covid 19 Red Zone, like Lembah Pantai. Taking in the consideration on preparedness, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan however has issued statements, that they will not be organising the event this year.

Malaysian are waking up to a new world where social distancing is the buzz word, we will not see crowd gatherings and crowding, instead we will see queue’s and face masks. But we cant be on lockdown forever either as the economy and business has to move or we will be in a bigger quandary. Ramadan Bazaar is a state prerogative, Selangor and other states have not made any announcement thus far, but the Deputy General of Heath Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah to a question regarding Ramadan, he did state if the people practice the requirements set in place by the Ministry than we can organise the bazaar.

Now it all depends on the 2 coming weeks, we are recording an average of 150-200 cases a day and if there is no unusual spikes in coming days than it will show if Malaysia did manage to break the chain. A welcome news for everyone.
