OnePlus Set To Revamp Their Cheaper OnePlus X Series Devices With OnePlus Z

OnePlus is notorious for being known as the ‘flagship killer’ of Android smartphones. They started introducing a budget segment to their devices, when they released the OnePlus X back in 2015. Now it seems, they’re finally making an update to he lineup with a device called the OnePlus Z. Rumours suggest that OnePlus is going to show off their latest devices on April 14th, but the OnePlus Z (previously known as 8 Lite) will be releasing later in the year.

This comes from infamous leaker Max Weinback, who said on March 26th that OnePlus would be making a new device in the X series. Now, he tweeted out an updated saying it would be called the OnePlus Z and matches the previous OnePlus 8 Lite renders.

Some of the leaked specs of this affordable device will include a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC, rather than the Snapdragon 865. It will also feature a triple rear cam, 4000mAh battery capable of OnePlus’s 30W Warp charge, 8GB RAM and OxygenOS 10 based on Android 10.

It’s a welcome entry to the long awaited series. I’ve been a fan of OnePlus for a while now and always wondered why they didn’t continue with their budget ‘X’ series. Though so far, nothing really exciting, but if the price is right, this might be a worthy contender to be one of the budget devices of the year. Here’s hoping to that!
