Intel has been dominating the PC market for decades with their processors from the day of Pentium to now the Core i’s, however the chip maker completely missed the mobile ship, and now reeling on lost opportunity. But things are going to get worse.

Microsoft the software company responsible for placing computer in every desks in the planet will be working Intel’s arch rivals Qualcomm to enable Windows 10 on mobile computing devices powered by the next generation Snapdragon processors. This would mean hardware manufacturers can now opt to include Snapdragon chipsets in their devices instead on intels.

As devices become more mobile centric and features blur between a PC, laptop, tablet and smartphone, powerful mobile processors can be an alternative to desktop versions. Microsoft collaboration with Qualcomm is seen as an opportune direction into the expanding mobile sector which the software company seeks to conquer.

Snapdragon can be designed to support Windows 10 PCs brigning computing and productivity in both PC’s and today’s leading smartphones. New Windows 10 PCs powered the chipsets can be designed to support x86 Win32 and universal Windows apps, including Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Windows 10 gaming titles.

The first PCs running Windows 10 based on Snapdragon processors are expected to be available as early as next year.
