Acer Starbreeze, Google, HTC VIVE, Facebook’s Oculus, Samsung, and Sony Interactive Entertainment, have announced the creation of a non-profit organization of international headset manufacturers to promote the growth of the global virtual reality industry. The Global Virtual Reality Association objective is to develop and share best practices for industry and foster dialogue between public and private stakeholders around the world.

As an alliance the association’s members will also work towards developing and sharing best practices, do research, and bring the international VR community together as the technology progresses. The groups findings will be a resource for consumers, policymakers, and industry interested in the field.

The platforms is regarded as the next great computing technology is seen to enhance in sectors ranging from education to healthcare, and to also contribute significantly to the global economy in the coming years.
