You know those times where you watch movies, especially action movies where you see the actors throw things at each other or hit them with dangerous objects? Have you ever wondered how these props were made and how they can cause no harm to anyone using them?
A series of videos uploaded to TikTok by Scott Reeder (@scottdropandroll) explains how these props were made and how they work. He demonstrated these props and I gotta say, they’re pretty cool and look very real.
In one video, Scott explains that sound engineers do not like when there’s too much noise going on on set especially if the actors are supposed to be talking and some real life objects make too much noise that it drowns the conversation between the actors. So the props team have to come up with solutions for props that makes little to no sound.

If you’re wondering about how they use dangerous weapons or tools in movies like knives or needles, Scott shows that they’re actually retractable. The needle will go into the syringe when pressed against the body so it doesn’t hurt the actor. The knife and ice pick however can hurt you if you’re not careful and Scott here says he’s always worried a method actor will go crazy with it.

Ending with something creepy (of course) is Scott showing us some prop babies! On screen they may look cute but in real life, not so much. Scott shows 2 different kind of prop babies; 1 for distant shots and 1 for close up shots. The close up shot babies look pretty real (and dead) so if you happen to get your hands on these babies, try not to cause panic and get yourself in trouble.

If you wanna watch more of Scott’s behind the scenes movie magic, then you can follow him on TikTok (while you still can). Not only does he shows his audience the cool props used for TV and movies, but he’ll give you a series of dad jokes as well so if you’re into those, you’re in for a treat.
