Powerful Intel Core i9 Now Available for Laptops; Comes as 6-core CPU

Intel wants to further empower the mobile gamers with the launch of its powerful Intel Core i9 processor for laptops. The highest-performing laptop processor to-date, it will provide the best gaming and content creation experience for mobile power-users.

On top of that, Intel also announced a new Intel Core platform extension. It will combine the perks of the Intel 8th Generation Core processors with Intel Optane memory. Capping the major launch at Beijing, Intel also showcased its current line-up of high-performance CPUs and chipsets for desktops. New features for this range includes ‘Modern Standby’ and ambient computing capabilities.

The Intel 8th Generation Core i5, i7 and i9 CPUs are all based on the latest Intel Coffee Lake platform. These processors are based off the 14nm++ processor design platform; it’s a concept that delivers up to 41% more frame-rates per second while gaming. Users can, supposedly, also edit 4K videos by up to 59% faster compared to previous generation CPUs.

Among the new mobile CPUs, the Intel 8th Generation Core i9-8950HK processor offers the highest performance capabilities. It is Intel’s first mobile processor to run on a 6-Cores, 12-Threads design. Hence the term – powerful Intel Core i9. The processor has its overclocking potential open and comes equipped with the new Intel Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB). TVB automatically increases clock frequency by up to 200 MHz, if temperatures and turbo power budget allows it. This means its turbo frequency can reach up to 4.8GHz.

Intel has been seeing demand for faster laptops increase along with the rise of PC gaming. As is, many want that desktop-like performance on-the-go and the capability to record and stream while gaming. That is something the powerful Intel Core i9 will directly address.

Performance isn’t all for gaming however. Content has become richer and more immersive; as such the level of performance needed to both consume and create content has also increased. Essentially, these new Intel 8th Generation Core CPUs that are now rolling out will address the demands of these creators.

Additionally, these new Intel 8th Generation mobile processors are able to deliver the best mobile VR experience. This also includes the brand-new Windows Mixed Reality Ultra immersion concept.

Rolling out with the new Intel 8th Generation Core mobile CPUs is the Intel 300 Series Chipset. As a next-gen motherboard, it packs the latest in terms of progressive mobile features. This includes an updated Gigabit Wi-Fi that now provides up to 2x boost over the standard 2×2 802.11AC; this raises the max bandwidth to 80 MHz (867 Mbps).

Beyond new mobile Core architecture deployment, Intel also beefs up its storage innovation capabilities. Part of the introduction of Intel Optane to desktop PCs sees Intel launching a new Data Drive Acceleration feature. With it, a significant hardware boost is provided to the large secondary HDD. More details on this new concept can be found here.

All these innovations that Intel has put out will begin to expand out quickly; first to roll-out will be the new platform extensions appearing on selected systems. Santa Clara calls these improvements the Intel Core i5+, i7+ and i9+ platforms. This indicators confirm users are purchasing a device that has both Intel Core performance and Intel Optane memory acceleration. The new extensions will begin with the new high-performance Intel 8th Generation line-up.
