ASUS ROG Updates its Zephyrus Lineup with the ROG Zephyrus M

ASUS ROG introduces its latest addition to the Zephyrus lineup, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M. It will be very much like the first ASUS ROG Zephyrus, but it will carry the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design instead.

When the ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501 landed in Malaysia, it came with the then-latest Intel i7-7700HQ processor. This time, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M will feature the 8th Generation Intel i7-8750HQ processor. It will also come with 16GB of RAM, a 1TB super solid hybrid drive (SSHD) with a 256GB PCIe SSD.

Some similarities the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M shares with its predecessor is its use of a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display panel. Of course, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M receives an upgrade with a 144Hz refresh rate as opposed to the previous 120Hz. However, a key difference is noticeable in its design. The display panel will also have up to 300 nits of brightness.

While the Zephyrus GX501 places its trackpad on the right side of the keyboard with an optional numpad, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus puts the trackpad in its conventional position below the keyboard.

There is also a lower-tier variant of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M, which carries all the same specs as its older brother. The only key difference lies in its GPU, which is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with Max-Q Design.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that ASUS ROG has forgotten about the Zephyrus GX501. It will also receive an upgrade, known as the ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501GI. This upgrade will see the GX501GI carry the 8th Generation Intel i7-8750HQ processor alongside the staple NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 with Max-Q Design GPU. Its display will also receive the similar 144Hz refresh rate upgrade from its previous 120Hz. It will also have 300 nits of brightness.

In terms of design, the Zephyrus GX501GI will retain its original keyboard layout with the trackpad placed on the right side with an optional numpad. What’s great about both gaming laptops is that it will still share the same design elements as the Zephyrus GX501, which includes its bottom panel opening up when the laptop is opened to provide better ventilation.
