What started off as a tweet from one online shopper’s delivery experience has taken Twitter over by storm with Pos Malaysia trending. In the tweet, Aisyah Humairah details an encounter with a postman after he had delivered some packages she bought online. After the delivery, the postman sat on the floor, answering a call, dripping wet from the rain. She then adds she saw his face, which looked upset.

At first, Aisyah figured it was a case of a broken heart, but prompted her sister to ask what had happened. After refusing a couple of times, the ‘abang posmen’ revealed that his friend had just called to inform him that they would not be getting a bonus this year.
He goes on to say that this had never happened before, and had received RM1000 last year, with this year’s bonus being absent altogether. Even with him working harder than before, he had his heart set on a bonus to help pay for expenses and take care of his family.
Of course, in trying times such as these it’s undeniable that postmen and delivery services are the unsung frontliner heroes that are often overlooked. This sort of negligence on part from Pos Malaysia has also prompted a number of netizens to spring into action condemning the delivery service.

Pos Malaysia is an example of local corporate greed.
Their business is booming generally during the rise of online shopping & especially during MCO.
Yet they have no initiative to:
1) improve their incentives to their employees
2) invest in better automation— AzharulZeneca2/2 (@_maxxlr8) May 17, 2020
There is now even a change.org petition to with over 2600 signatures prompting Pos Malaysia to give bonus to mailmen.
Of course, as a human I can empathise with the feelings of these hardworking mailmen around the nation. Hopefully with the help of the internet, Pos Malaysia will reconsider their stance and give their deserved delivery men the compensation they deserve. Especially in these trying times.
