While Google’s Pixel family of products is not officially available in Malaysia, there are many fans who still pine for the product. Google earlier announced the successor to the Pixel 2 and 2 XL, with the number 3 splashed on their website.

Although the announcement is on Oct 9th, Engadget managed to find the Pixel 3 XL being sold in Hong Kong. In a YouTube video, they explore the many features of the phone they managed to purchase.
Featuring a 6.3inch OLED screen, the Pixel 3 XL looks stunning in the video. Running the latest Android Pie 9.0, the 3 XL has rather controversial Gesture Animation baked in to the OS. Similar to iOS, it allows users to swipe around the user interface rather than the traditional button-based system.
Behind the scenes, the Pixel 3 XL in the video was sporting the latest Snapdragon 845 accompanied with 4GB of RAM. This should ensure the phone will breeze through most applications and games that are available in the Play Store.
Carrying over a hardware feature, the Pixel 3 XL was shown to have the Active Edge squeeze function, which is used to toggle the Google Assistant or even mute incoming sound alerts.
Over on the back, Google goes against the mainstream flow by keeping the main camera as a single lens, relying on software to create bokeh effects, instead of multiple lens. This has proven to be quite successful as evidenced by the Pixel 2’s amazing ability to accurately shoot portrait-style pictures. For the front facing camera, Google decided to go with a dual lens, one as a wide-angle and the other with a tighter frame. Hence, users will have the option of taking group selfies or single portrait selfies with ease.
What do you think of this leaked unit? Does it whet your appetite for the official launch on Tuesday 9th October?
