With a broad vision to “Inspire the World, Create the Future” Samsung is committed in enriching lives of people regardless of their background or surroundings through the use of innovative technologies and digital solutions. This lead to the company launching its Love & Care campaign three months ago here in Malaysia with the aspiration of building community centres equipped with latest technology gadgets and solutions for under served communities.
Now it is opening a Samsung Smart Community centre in the heart of rural Perak, Legap in Sungai Siput reaching to the orang asli living in this remote areas. The latest mission will enable the tech deprived community an opportunity to access Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and not be left out in this increasingly digitised world.
The launch of the Samsung Smart Community Centre is a collaborative effort with Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). The centre will benefit some 4,700 individuals via several Samsung products such as Samsung tablets that have been pre-installed with educational apps provided by UKM, allowing students to learn in fun and engaging ways. Apart from that, 65” UHD Smart TV, 24” LED monitors, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, and wall-mounted air conditioners have been installed for a comfortable and productive learning environment as well.
Present at the event was YAB Tuan Ahmad Faizal Chief Minister of Perak who commented “the initiative, will give residents of RPS Legap a chance for digital education and will drive their ambitions and inspire them to achieve more. This is also in support of the national agenda in using ICT towards achieving a knowledge-based nation”.
