A study report across 77 countries from Opensignal, shows that 4G Download Speeds are between 31.2 Mbps and 5.8 Mbps faster at the best hour of the day compares with the slowest hour of the day.
Every country has some degree of speed fluctuations throughout the day. Though some countries with highly developed 4G markets tend to be more consistent, powerful 4G networks do not always equate to more consistent connections.
Malaysia is ranked 66th out of the 77 countries studied at an average speed of 21 Mbps, whereas Korea has the best average speed of 55.7 Mbps during their off peak period.
In Malaysia, the 4G Download Speeds shows extremely variability ranging from as slow as 9 Mbps during the peak hour at 10pm, up to 21 Mbps during off peak from 1am to 3am.
For most countries, the peak consumption time is between 8pm to 11pm. This major fluctuations are caused by congestion on the network when demand for mobile data is the highest. This is more severe in urban areas.
Though with the latest 4G technologies deployed, failure of the 4G networks to deliver consistent speed is still apparent. With 5G networks, speed issues can be solve as it can provide new capacities to help clear up speed variations. 5G networks do not just deliver faster speeds but also, mitigate the daily congestion with the new high bandwidth and high-frequency spectrum bands. Furthermore, 5G can support simultaneous users at very high speeds.
