Just yesterday, OnePlus officially revealed and launched their OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro with some pretty heft price tags. But when you take into consideration the other smartphones out there and their prices, the OnePlus 8 Pro in particular looks very attractive. But now it seems that even a higher price tag isn’t enough to deter OnePlus fans in the U.S.

First spotted by 9to5Google, all models of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro sold out as of 12:10 PM ET. That’s 10 minutes after OnePlus opened up orders for their ‘limited’ stock at launch. All colour and storage variants are gone, so that’s pretty much a testament to people’s interest in OnePlus’s latest offerings.
Though keep in mind, OnePlus was selling unlocked models early on their online store as part of a “limited release”. The wider sales for the OnePlus 8 series start on April 29 in the U.S. , as we mentioned in our coverage. Now, that is the same date OnePlus is showing on their sites as to when stock will return. We don’t know how many devices exactly OnePlus put up for their ‘limited’ release, so it could be extremely limited. Based on how fast it sold out, it was probably not a lot of devices.
But like I said, this is pretty much a benchmark for OnePlus to gauge their user’s interest. I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that people might not care so much for the higher prices. Which is less so surprising, and more so disappointing. Hopefully, we don’t see this as a trend, just as the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra pegged ridiculous prices for their smartphone.
