I’ve been a fan of OnePlus devices ever since the OnePlus 3. That was my first device from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, and I subsequently upgraded to the OnePlus 5T. Safe to say, I’m due for an upgrade, and ever since I saw these leaks on their upcoming OnePlus 8 lineup, I think I’ve found it.
The leaks come courtesy of tech enthusiast and serial leakster, Ishan Agarwal, and he tweeted out the spec sheet below:

If these specs are to be believed, they’re going to be pretty great. According to the spec sheet, the OnePlus 8 will feature a a 6.55″ FHD+ Super AMOLED display, capable of a 90Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 5G processor, upto 12GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. It’ll also house a triple camera setup of 48MP + 16MP + 2MP, and a 4300mAh battery capable of a 30W Warp Charge.
Sad to see them holding out a bit with their base OnePlus 8 model, but still, pretty alright. It also isn’t that much of an upgrade from the OnePlus 7 Pro, so it’s not that exciting.
Honestly this all depends on the price tag for the devices to truly know if they’re a ‘flagship killer’.
The OnePlus 8 Pro on the other hand, is looking to to be a proper beast. The smartphone features a 6.78″ QHD+ Super AMOLED display capable of a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 5G processor, up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM as well as 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. For the cameras, it will house a quad-camera setup consisting of two 48MP sensors, a 8MP and 5MP cameras. Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro house a 16MP selfie camera.
Some new features that the OnePlus 8 Pro has is a crazy 30W wireless fast charging, and for the first time ever (if I recall correctly) a IP68 rating for their waterproofing. On paper, the OnePlus 8 Pro is looking super beastly, and is enticing me to come get one. Though I’ll have to see the design, and that price tag before anything.
Last year, the OnePlus 7 Pro start off at $669 (RM 2800), which made it a bargain but slightly more over priced than usual OnePlus devices. They have been on the upward in terms of prices, but they’re still arguably cheaper than other flagships.
Hopefully though, they don’t go overboard with their pricing strategy with this one. They should really keep to their ‘flagship killer’ mentality when it comes to giving you the best performance, for a considerable discount. But like I said, hopefully, so we’ll have to wait and see when we get official word from OnePlus.
