One Ring to Do It All

From smartphones to smart watches, now comes a revolutionary smart ring. Using Bluetooth and the same type of near-field communication (NFC) technology found in credit cards, Token not only allows the user to ditch their passwords and make mobile payments. It can even unlock car doors, log into computers and protect the user’s identity with an extra level of security by a simple waving gesture.

The smart ring functions through a two-step authentication process that’s even easier than pulling out your credit card, and that is saying something. It will first take a biometric reading or a fingerprint scan via a sensor on the inside of the ring. Once you take it off, it shuts down until you wake it back up with another scan.

Apart from that, Token has the ability to unlock Bluetooth enables devices just by performing simple gestures. According to the founders of Token, it can also be used for instant access to public transit systems, letting users skip out on card swipes. For now, Token works with more than 40 transit systems around the world, with another 20 on the way in 2018. Now we know what to get Frodo for Christmas.
